Scotland has always had a place close to my heart ever since I went there on my honeymoon back in 2006. The scenery, the people, the history, the quaint little fishing villages . . . need I go on? We love the country so much that as a family we decided to move there in 2017 to begin a new adventure together. One reason that made the move so easy was seeing the many many dedicated Instagram accounts that showcased Scotland in all its glory. The passion and inspiration that the following accounts have provided, especially to myself as a photographer, are truly appreciated. Please give them some love and check out their accounts.

1 – Eilidh Cameron  @eilidh_cameron

Eilidh Cameron is a photographer who was born and raised in Argyll on the West coast of Scotland. Growing up she was always fascinated by the beauty and geological features of the Scottish landscape. In 2016 Visit Scotland made her an ambassador for their company, part of this role involves promoting Scotland through her photography on social media. She also cares a great deal about her community and uses her huge following to get over important messages as shown below.

Discover.Scotland is kind of a life journey of an Edinburgh based couple.  With a balanced mix of personal life and stunning images from Scotland they have grown to over 16k followers. Accounts like this one really stirs the emotions and is a great example of an instagram account that made me visualize my own family in Scotland, living a life like theirs.

Love.Scotland is a great account to visit for inspiration. They have a huge amount of iconic Scottish locations to view on their feed. With over 134k followers they must be doing something right. Whether you are looking to plan a vacation, or are looking for inspiration for your next photography trip, why not check out their account.

4 – Bee Leask @bumblebambi

Bee Leask runs a very well known Instagram account under the name of @Bumblebambi. She grew up on the Shetland Islands which explains why she has such a love of the sea and islands. She spent her youth never more than 3 miles from the sea, playing on a beach (pebble, of course) or running around the many deserted crofts or up a hill. Her enthusiasm for the outdoors of Scotland is truly remarkable and contagious. If you are into hill walking, munro and corbet bagging then you must check out her account.

Ferg has a great following too with over 17k on his Instagram account. He specializes in particular with the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Areas that I am very fond of with my photography too. (Check out my Scottish Highlands or Scottish Islands portfolio) Another great thing about Fergs account is that all his images are taken with a mobile phone, something that I’m sure we all have by now. So why not check out his page and then get out with your phone and capture some beautiful images like Ferg.

With over 487k followers you will not be short of an image or two on the Visit Scotland Instagram account. Wide ranging Scottish images from traditional highland cattle, to mysterious Scottish Castles can be found in abundance. They will also feature users images, so why not head over there if you aren’t one of the nearly half a million followers already.

8 – Susanne Arbuckle  @adventuresaroundscotland

As a photographer, I do love the iconic photo locations that Scotland has to offer. But sometimes it is nice to find a hidden gem. A stunning scene or quaint little village that has not been shot to death by photographers. That’s why I love Susanne’s account so much. She likes to head off the beaten track and discover other hidden gems that Scotland has to offer. Follow her account for tips on what your next adventure could be.

One of the most outstanding areas of beauty that Scotland has to offer has to be the Isle of Skye. Truly a photographer’s paradise. There are so many photo opportunities on one island. I have been 6 times and have still not been to all the places I would like on the Island. This account with over 48k followers has many stunning images to drool over. I keep coming back to this account for inspiration time and time again. Why not take a look, there may be an image or location on there that you never knew existed.

Without a doubt the Highlands of Scotland are one of Scotland’s most visited areas, and rightly so. The scenery and landscape is truly breathtaking. With over 110k followers it is plain to see that the Highland’s have such a special place in the hearts of many the world over. Head over to their account, sit back, relax, drink in hand, and just browse until your heart is content.
